This policy explains how TeachMe Vietnam (Teachme.vn, referred to as “TeachMe”, “we” or “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects your personal data when you visit the website, request a tutor, register an account or publish a tutor profile. By using Teachme.vn, you agree to data processing under this policy and Vietnamese personal data protection law.

1. Data we collect

1.1. Information you provide

  • Tutor requests: parent or learner name, phone number, email, Zalo/WhatsApp, school, curriculum (IB, IGCSE, A-Level, SAT and others), subject, level, goals, area, preferred schedule, lesson format (online or at home) and any notes you enter.
  • Accounts: name, email, password (stored in encrypted form) and profile photo.
  • Tutor profiles: name, photo, nationality, qualifications, experience, subjects taught, teaching area, indicative rates, contact details and documents you upload as evidence of your qualifications.
  • Communications with us: messages sent through forms, email, phone, Zalo or Facebook.

1.2. Automatically collected data

  • IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, visit times and referring page.
  • Cookies and similar technologies (see section 6).

1.3. Data from third parties

If you sign in with Facebook, we receive the name, email and public profile photo that Facebook permits it to share. We do not receive your Facebook password.

2. How we use data

  • Find, recommend and connect tutors suited to learners’ requests.
  • Contact you to confirm your needs, arrange trial lessons and provide support during lessons.
  • Create and manage accounts and display tutor profiles on the website.
  • Verify tutor information and prevent fraud, spam and abuse.
  • Analyze visits to improve the website and services.
  • Send service or promotional information when you have consented; you may opt out at any time.
  • Meet obligations required by law or competent government authorities.

3. Public tutor profiles

When tutors publish profiles on Teachme.vn, profile information (name, photo, subjects, experience, area and indicative rates) becomes publicly visible and may appear in search engine results. Tutors may edit or request removal of their profiles at any time.

4. Data sharing

We do not sell personal data. Data is shared only in the following circumstances:

  • Between learners and tutors: information needed to arrange lessons (for example, subject, level, area, schedule and contact details) is shared with recommended tutors, and vice versa.
  • Service providers supporting website operations, only as necessary: hosting, email, security and spam prevention (for example, Google reCAPTCHA), visitor analytics (for example, Google Analytics), advertising and measurement (for example, Meta Pixel), maps (Google Maps), social login (Facebook), automation and contact management. Some providers have servers outside Vietnam.
  • As required by law or to protect the rights, property and safety of TeachMe, users and the community.

5. Retention and security

  • Data is retained as needed for the purposes stated above: tutor requests for up to 3 years after the last contact; accounts and tutor profiles until you request deletion; and analytics data for the provider’s retention period.
  • The website uses encrypted HTTPS connections; passwords are encrypted; and internal data access is restricted to personnel who need it.
  • No system is completely secure. If a data breach affects you, we will notify you and respond in accordance with the law.

6. Cookies

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We use them to maintain sign-in, remember language, prevent spam, and measure visits and advertising effectiveness. You may block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some functions, such as sign-in, may then stop working.

7. Your rights

You have the right to be informed about data processing; view and receive a copy of your data; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion or restricted processing; withdraw consent (without affecting processing already carried out); object to marketing use; and lodge complaints in accordance with the law. To exercise these rights, contact us using section 9. We respond within the period required by law.

8. Children

Many TeachMe learners are children. Requests for learners under 16 must be submitted or approved by a parent or guardian. We collect children’s data only as needed to arrange learning. If you believe we received a child’s data without consent, please contact us so that we can delete it.
