My academic background in Applied Foreign Languages has provided me with a foundation in language learning and cross-cultural communication. I apply this knowledge to creating engaging Mandarin lessons for students from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

Teaching experience

I am a native Mandarin Chinese speaker from Taiwan and the founder of Maya Mandarin Lab in Thao Dien, Ho Chi Minh City.

I teach Mandarin to toddlers, preschoolers, school-age children, and adults from diverse international backgrounds.

My experience includes one-on-one lessons, small-group classes, and interactive learning activities. I help beginners develop confidence in speaking Mandarin through everyday conversations, storytelling, educational games, and creative activities.

I also have extensive experience working in multilingual and multicultural environments, allowing me to communicate effectively with international students and parents.

Teaching approach

I believe that learning Mandarin should be fun, interactive, and meaningful!

My teaching approach combines play-based learning, storytelling, science experiments, arts and crafts, music, movement, and hands-on activities.

For young children, I focus on natural language acquisition through listening, speaking, repetition, and real-life communication rather than rote memorization.

Each lesson is adapted to the student's age, personality, interests, and learning pace. I create a warm and encouraging environment where even shy children feel comfortable participating and speaking Mandarin.

For older children and adults, I provide structured lessons covering practical conversation, pronunciation, vocabulary, reading, and Traditional Chinese writing.

My goal is to help every student develop confidence, curiosity, and a genuine love for learning Mandarin.

Qualifications & achievements

Certificate in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL)
Training in Mandarin Chinese language teaching, including language instruction, lesson planning, teaching methodology, and cross-cultural communication.
